Gelli Print Pillow Box
Hi friends! I hope you all are having a great day and a happy holiday season! Today I am bringing you a super simple (but super cute) tutorial on how to make a pillow box for little gifts and treats! Lets get started!
Things you will need:
An empty toilet paper roll (or paper towel roll cut in half)
Gesso or white paint
Paint of your choosing
Gelli Arts Gel Plate
Stencils
Brayer
Fun things like ribbons and anything else you might want to decorate your box with!
I started out by sanding off as much of the left over tissue and then applied two coats of gesso
Now starts the fun! I got out my Gelli Arts gel printing plate and used hot pink first
Next I decided to do some fun green polka dots!
Then I added some teal, after the teal I added a coat of Pearl glazing medium just to add a bit of shimmer!
Fold the two ends into each other and your ready to decorate!
I added a doily, some seam binding and tulle to tie it all together and thats it! Super simple and now you have a cute box to give a small gift in! You would never even guess it was a toilet paper roll! Well I hope you all enjoyed my tutorial have a great day friends!

Fun with Acrylic Skins
Things you need
- a Transparency (I used a 12x12 sheet protector)
- Acrylic Paint (I used my high flow acrylics by Golden)
- Liquitex Glazing Medium
- Any other fun things you can throw in there! (glitter, puffy paint stamps maybe?)
First spread out some of the glazing medium onto your surface (whether it be a transparency etc.) Don't worry about it being perfectly even it will settle overnight!
Now add drops of color into your glazing medium! Keep going til its just about full of color! I then just swirled some of the paint together with a toothpick! Then let it dry overnight!
After it dries overnight it will be clear, I let mine dry two days just to be safe but that's all up to you! It will pull up really easily and feel almost like a taffy so be careful it will stick together!
I used some black puffy paint to write all over mine and then cut a heart out of it and put it in my journal! I love that its transparent! So many possibilities! Let me know if you try it out and I will see you soon! Happy Arting!

New Supply Love
Hi friends! I know its been awhile but I wanted to do a quick post about some fun new supplies! Some of these I have been saving up for and others were garage sale bargains!
Here is the page I made using the new supplies! |
So here are my fun new supplies! |
I have been wanting to try Heavy Body Acrylics for awhile so I picked up two bottles of the Liquitex brand at Micheal's and went for it! I used the paint with a stencil in the middle of the circles and I love the texture it left behind! So much fun, I definitely recommend trying them out, its kind of like painting with lipstick!
I have been DYING to try out the Liquitex paint markers and I splurged (two months of savings) and bought these! I am so happy i did! The go over any color fabulously and I love that I can press harder for a more intense color or keep it light for a more transparent look! I am one happy lady, I cant wait to play with them more!
How cute are these Martha Stewart Washi tapes? I love anything rainbow so I HAD to have these! They aren't transparent so they are perfect for making cute ruffles and such! Love em!
So last Saturday I pulled up to a garage sale and saw these Prismacolor chalk pastels, at first I wasn't going to ask how much they were figuring it would be at least 5 to 10 bucks buuut I asked anyways and well I got them for 50 cents!!! I nearly started jumping up and down in excitement! I love them, the colors are so gorgeous and bold, I;m in love to say the least!
So what new supplies have you tried lately? Its amazing how refreshing just trying something new can be, whether it cost you ten bucks or fifty cents! Well that is all for me now, I will be back soon with a few fun tutorials in the mean time here is a new art journal spread I recently finished! Happy Wednesday!!!

Art Journal Love
Hi friends I know its been awhile but I figured I would stop by for an update and share some art journal love! I am finding my love of color just continues to grow, I love using my neon paints and contrasting them with a darker purple or blue! I also love adding pops of black, I love how back + neon looks!
I am also in love with drippy circles! I find myself filling my pages with them! Do you have any shapes that are always popping up on your pages? I also really love adding text to my pages whether it be stamps or some paper collage!
Maps continue to be one of the things I always reach for when I need paper! I love the colors, the lines and the text! What do you tend to reach for? That's all for me now, I hope you have a wonderful Monday!

Color Magic
Lately I have playing with color
Almost mad scientist style
Finding ways to make color pop
Mixing the light and the dark
Finding a happy medium
Finding magic in the layers
There is magic in this process
Magic that spreads across the page with my brush
Magic in the mistakes and in the flaws
color + magic + messiness = love

My Top 5 Art Journaling Supplies!
Hi there! Today I thought I would share what my top five art journaling supplies are. Now this list changes as I get new supplies or discover new techniques. But for now these are what I am loving!
Golden High Flow Acrylic Paint |
I love this stuff, seriously it's my go to paint, I love that it's transparent and is almost like an ink but better! The mini bottles are perfect for on the go creating and I am sooo in love with the selection of colors, especially the neon!
Paint Rollers |
I looove this triangle roller, it was given to me by a friend who didn't want it, score! I believe this one is from a scrapbooking company! I also like making my own rollers from tp tubes and hot glue or rubber bands!
India Ink |
I recently found these at the very bottom of my AJ on the go bag and well fell in love again! I love writing and doodling with the ink, and with all the new colors popping up there is tons of possibilities!
Painted Papers |
I love having pre-painted paper to use in my journal! I love doodling on book pages and using up extra paint to make cool papers for collage in my journal! Here are some that are painted on plain paper and book paper and then written on. Some days I just sit and make pages for collage, its fun no pressure painting!
Heidi Swapp Stencils |
These are two of my favorite stencils right now (can you tell?) Heidi Swapp has a bunch of fun stencils that are in the scrapbooking section at Michael's and are so much fun! As you can tell I love these!
Well there ya have it my five favorite supplies right now! So what are some of your favorite supplies? Do they tend to change or rotate? Is there one thing you just have to have for art journaling?

Why I Art Journal
Hi there, I know it's been yet another month but well here I am again! This past weekend I had a small meetup with a few other crafty ladies at my house. Both of which were scrapbookers and had never really heard of art journaling, I showed them my journals and watched as they flipped through the pages. They asked how I got started and then one of them asked me why I art journal. Well it got me thinking why do I art journal? I have a few answers first I said simply because I love it I love taking paper and paint and making something beautiful.
When I first started art journaling, I needed it, like really needed that outlet to gush all of my thoughts out on a page and then to cover them with paint. So why has that changed so much over the past four years? Now a days I write one word or a few little things that are running through my head. There are days when I pick up my journal turn to a blank page and find myself writing, but per usual it gets covered. I guess I have changed and my need for art journaling has changed.
I art journal because it soothes ans awakens me, it sets me free, it lets me be messy and be a bit of a mad scientist. I love it so, my journals and the pages that fill them are a peek into my soul. So ask yourself why do you art journal? You never know what answer you might come up with.
