Project Fall day one - Give Thanks mini book tutorial!

Hi friends, I have been gone for awhile but only because we very suddenly had to move houses! It is a huge long story and I am just so happy to be settled and ready to create in our new home! I am starting a new project for November, called Project fall, it is two weeks of fun projects from today til the day after Christmas! I hope you all enjoy! So today is Day one and the project is a give thanks mini journal/scrapbook! I am using it to write the things I am thankful for all this month! So here we go!

My finished book measures 5inches long by 6 inches tall obviously you can choose what works best for you!

First I cut all of my papers down to 10x6 inch pieces and then folded them in half

I then burnished them with the end of my scissors

I added tags and random strips of paper

After this I would up with two sections of paper each with four pieces of paper

I took the first section and opened to the middle, I measured the six inches and marked in the center at the 1 inch and 5 inch

Do the same thing with both signatures add the cover and poke through there as well

Grab your needle and book binding thread and start on the outside cover and poke your needle into the book
poke needle into the other side and come back around to the front
Tye your string as tight as possible and your done! Just a note I did each signature right outside of the center line on the cover, which is why it is tied on one side and not in the middle of the book!

I hope you all enjoyed the tutorial, I will be back tomorrow with another fun project for you all, questions and comments always welcome! Have a great day!

Wow it's June already?

Hello friends, how are you? I hope your summer is going well, I know mine is! My birthday was just on the fourth and well I still CANNOT believe I am 32! I had an amazing birthday, I got a new sewing machine and lots of fun fabric! ON TOP OF THAT... my wife signed me up for Dream Big and the Creativity Unleashed video kit club with Traci Bautista! So far I am really loving it and feel so full of inspiration from them!

What is inspiring you right now? Is it a class, a color, the weather, a friend or maybe a new discovery?

I am also REALLY getting back into scrapbooking and papercrafting in general! I even created a new blog just for scrapbooking and papercrafts. When it is up and running I will be more than happy to share the link with you!

Lastly here are some new journal pages!

Can you tell I am STILL so in LOVE with color! I don't actually know if that will ever change, playing with color and texture are the best parts of art journaling, for me!

What do you love about art journaling?

Alright friends that is all from me today but I will be back soon! Have a GREAT day!

Art Journaling is a SMASHing good time!

Hi friends! I hope everyone is doing well! I have been super busy with work as well as THREE new dogs!  We adopted two goldendoodle puppies and took in a 13 year old dog! Needless to say life has been a bit crazy but on to the fun stuff!

I am so in love with my SMASHbook!
I am having such a great time working in my smashbook, granted I only have a few pages done but I love them! I love that I am taking my old passion of scrapbooking and my passion of art journaling and putting them together! So if you have a chance try it out, there are so many great ideas for using smashbooks! Here are some blogs with some fun ideas for using a smashbook

My Art Journal has been well a bit neglected...... BUT I am slowly getting myself back into it as well as experimenting, playing and just having fun with it! My new love is watercolors, I love the cool effects you can achieve with them! I will be doing a little watercolor tutorial for you really soon! I am still such a sucker for bright colors and painted doodles, I could sit for hours and doodle with paint it seems! Here are some recent pages!

Challenge yourself this week and try some new things in your journal
  • Use some scrapbook paper in your art journal
  • Doodle with your paintbrush
  • Use your favorite art supply in a new way
Please check out Samantha Kira's post about our fun art picnic over here

Inspiration Week!

Hello friends! This week I have something special to share with you! I decided to do a week full of artsy inspiration, we all can you some right? So today I have a video for you and I accidentally already posted the result page (oops) but I will re post it anyway!

So here is the result from using an inspiration flair tray!

On a sad note my golden retriever Copper passed away last Thursday, he wasn't eating and he was so skinny, and any time he did eat he couldn't keep it down. On top of all of that he was having a hard time getting around and was just sleeping all day because he had a huge tumor that was bleeding into his stomach. So on Thursday night our vet came to the house and put him to sleep, I miss him so much already but I know he is in heaven playing with his brother right now....  Well I will be back tomorrow, have a great day!

Phases and Stages

I have been really busy lately, looking for a job, keeping things around the house clean and painting like a mad woman! I have three completed pages, two pages in the begining stages and a painting that I am trying to work on all at once! Well I don't have lots of time to talk so I will just show you what I have been up to!

Well I will be back on Sunday with a really cool week planned out for my blog followers! Have a great weekend friends!

I'm Baaaaaaaack!!!

Hi friends! I hope you are all having a great week! I just got back from California yesterday and I am already missing all the friends and family there!  I apologize for my absence, I lost my job and have been on the hunt for a new one, been to California for over a week, and lots of other things. I have been art journaling and doing other crafty things as well.  I have a lot planned for the rest of the month as well as March, I want to change up the blog, start an e-course and start a mailing list and start doing weekly U-Streams as well.  I started the sketchbook challenge and have been doodling and drawing more than usual. I love it, it calms me down and I keep my pad of paper and all of my pens and pencils in my purse at all times, so that when the creative bug bites I can sketch!
So a few weekends ago Samantha came over and we spent the entire day experimenting with new and different things in my backyard. We made marble paper, we both worked on our journals and she worked on a huge piece of paper inspired by Traci Bautista and her new book. We definitely feed off of each other and I love having a friend “who gets it”.
I am super excited for tomorrow night I am going to do a UStream so please tune in! My UStream user name is adventuresinaj so be on the look out tomorrow!
Here are miscellaneous photos from around the studio as well as my week in photos!
